Race information Tjejmilen 2012
Welcome to the 29th annual Tjejmilen. 32,073 women from 23 countries have registered for this year´s race. We hope that you will enjoy the run through the royal park ”Djurgården” in Stockholm on Saturday, 1 September. The first group starts at 13.00.
Your race number is printed on the registration card that will be sent to you by regular mail. You will get this letter in mid August. You are required to present the registration card when you pick up your race number.
Registration
Registration will be held at ”Danicahallen”, an ice hockey hall, 500 metres from the Olympic Stadium (”Stockholms Stadion”) in central Stockholm, check this map! The best way of getting to and from the registration is by underground (”T-banan”). Nearest station is ”Stadion”. Registration will be open: Thursday 30 August 15.00 - 20.00 Friday 31 August 10.00 - 21.00 Saturday 1 September 09.00 - 12.00 At the registration you will get your number bib. During the race, your number bib must be clearly visible on your chest.
At the registration you will find our Sports Expo. The official Tjejmilen clothing and other souvenirs are sold at the Expo.
It will take you about 30 minutes to walk from the registration to the start.
Timing – Competition class
Runners in the Competition class have a chip attached on the number bib. This chip is used to record your time during the race. Your time is recorded when you cross the start line and when you cross the finish line. After the race, the result, and intermediate time at 5 km, for all runners in the Competition class can be found here in the race web site.
No times are recorded in the Fun Run class. At the finish you can check your time on the clock display on the finish line.

Before the start
The best way of getting to and from the start/finish at ”Gärdet” – a big park in central Stockholm – is by underground. Nearest station is ”Karlaplan”, see the course map. ”T-bana Karlaplan” to the far left on the map is the underground station Karlaplan.
A limited number of changing rooms and showers are available at the start/finish area. We recommend you to change and shower at your hotel. You can leave your track suit or any other clothing in the specially designated area, ”Överdragskläder”. After the race you can pick up your belongings at the same location (see map below).
For safekeeping of valuables we advise you to go to the ”Värdesaks-inlämning” (Safety Deposit Service). You must present your number bib, which is your receipt, when you reclaim your valuables.
Toilets
Toilet facilities are situated at the start/finish area and at each refreshment station.
First start at 13.00
The start is at "Gärdet" – a park in central Stockholm, check this map! The first start is at 13.00. The start is devided into 15 groups that starts in two waves. There will be about 2,000 runners in each group. Each group has a marked area close to the starting line. You should be in this area no less than 15 minutes before your group starts. The first three groups are for the seeded runners in the Competition class. Your start group and your starting time is indicated on your number bib. A warm up program starts at 12.45 and will be repeated regularly.
Here are the start groups in wave 1: Group 1, start at 13.00: Runners in the Competition class with bib numbers 1 – 2,000.
Group 2, start at 13.05: Runners in the Competition class with bib numbers 2,001 – 4,500.
Group 3, start at 13.10: Runners in the Competition class with bib numbers 4,501 – 7,000.
Group 4 A, start at 13.15: Runners in the Competition class with bib numbers 7,001 – 9,000 and runners in the Fun Run class with bib numbers 9,001 – 10,000.
Group 4 B, start at 13.20: Runners in the Competition class with bib numbers 10,001 – 12,000 and runners in the Fun Run class with bib numbers 12,001 – 13,000.
Group 5, start at 13.25: Runners in the Competition class with bib numbers 13,001 – 15,000 and runners in the Fun Run class with bib numbers 15,001 – 16,000.
Group 6, start at 13.30: Runners in the Competition class with bib numbers 16,001 – 17,800 and runners in the Fun Run class with bib numbers 17,801 – 19,000.
Group 7, start at 13.35: Runners in the Competition class with bib numbers 19,001 – 20,500 and runners in the Fun Run class with bib numbers 20,501 – 22,000.

The course
The course runs through the beautiful landscape of the Royal National Park “Djurgården”. The course is 10,000 metres, mostly paved surface and almost flat. The only uphill slopes are after 6.5 and 9 kilometres. Each kilometre is indicated by a sign. You must always follow instructions from the police or race officials. If you get tired, please keep to the right hand side of the course so faster runners can pass you on the left hand side.
Water and energy drink
Along the course there are four refreshment stations. Only water is available at the first and third refreshment stations. Water and energy drink are provided at the second and fourth refreshment stations. The energy drink is served on the first tables and then water is served.
Environmentally friendly
All cups used during the race are compostable and will be collected in compostable bags. The official waste disposal company Ragn-Sells will collect and ensure that all cups are composted. Large trash bags for used cups will be placed after the refreshment stations. Please leave your cups here.
The finish
After finishing the race you will receive your medal. ”Frödinge Ostkaka” offers all runners cheesecake (a Swedish speciality). Other sponsors offer the runners fruit and juice. Relax after your race and join the happy crowd of finishers!

Great races in Sweden 2013
ASICS Stockholm Marathon The 35th ASICS Stockholm Marathon will be an exiting race in a beautiful city with 21,500 runners from all over the world. Enthusiastic spectators line the route in the Swedish capital. At the finish in the classical 1912 Olympic Stadium thousands of fans greet the runners.
